A few weeks ago we shared a Garment Worker Diaries blog with you which served as an introduction to household savings practices among garment workers in Bangladesh. This week we return to that theme and dig into the data a bit more.
What we found is that open communication governs the rules of household savings withdrawals, and more often it is the case that household members inform each other when they avail themselves of any household savings (whether shared or unshared). This largely holds true for both women and men household members.
